Armley Helping Hands is a registered charity supporting older people and their families with in Armley & Wortley district of Leeds 12. The charities aim is to provide facilities for the advancement of education, recreation and leisure time activities with a view of improving quality of life and reducing social isolation.
The charity was established on Monday 5th June 1995 by a steering group of older people, carers and representives who work with older people in the local community. Over the last ten years the charity has expanded dramatically with in the local community and have a database of 1,836 older people registered with the Charity, in which over 200 older people access the charity on a weekly bases via social activities and support services.
The Charity is part of the Leeds Neighbourhood Network Scheme in which the charities core funding is by Leeds Social service Department, Leeds CIty Council. We also have secured funds from Leeds Primary Care Trust, Dimberbly Trust , Hall Lane Community Fund and other small Trust and charities to enable the charity to provide a continual service to older people in Armley and Wortley district of Leeds 12.

Creating future Awards 2008
Armley Helping Hands and Primer Farnell PLC were successful in winning the Yorkshire Forward Creating Better Future Awards 2008 for Diversity. The award was to recognise the working partnership between both organisations and the development of new services and activities for older people in the community. Additional to receiving the Regional award (a very nice glass trophy) the charity also received a £10,000.
